Aberdeen City Council make urgent appeal for new foster carers
The Council's fostering team are hosting an event later this week for those interested - we've been speaking to a current foster carer about how rewarding it is.
Aberdeen City Council have made an urgent appeal for more foster carers in the city.
They are looking for people who have the commitment and flexibility to offer a child a home. The length of their stay can range depending on the carer and child's situation.
Northsound has been speaking to Angela, a foster carer from Aberdeen.
She told us:
"You can't describe the feeling - it's the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life."
"What more can you give a child? To give them that security, that feeling of love and structure that they so desperately need."
"The gift that you give a child being a foster carer, it's life long for them."
Angela told Northsound that there isn't a complex set of requirements to be a foster carer, the most important thing is having the space and the will, she said:
"You've got to have a spare bedroom, and if you've got that it doesn't matter if you're in a married relationship, living with someone, if you're single, whatever."
The fostering team will be hosting a Teams meeting on Friday (26th of February) between noon and 2pm.
Those interested are asked to get in touch with the team via email: AdoptFostRecruitment@aberdeencity.gov.uk
