A troubled Tullos care home facing closure is under fire for continuing concerns over the treatment of its residents.

Operators of Banks O'Dee, Four Seasons Health Care will stop running the home after failing to fix previous problems highlighted by the Care Inspectorate.

The watchdog's inspectors have since discovered one resident was wheeled through the facility almost naked after a shower.

In another incident another resident was left in bed for up to 14-hours because nobody could help them get up.

Adam Stachura from Age Scotland says the report highlights a staffing crisis affecting care homes country-wide.

"It's a difficult job and the pay levels for many aren't as high as they should be, and need to be" - AGE SCOTLAND

He told Northsound News: "There are particular pressures and stresses that they're under just now, not least the recruitment and retention of care staff.

"That's becoming a problem more and more, to be able to make sure there are enough members of staff who are highly qualified to deliver the levels of care that people would expect.

"It's a difficult job and the pay levels for many aren't as high as they should be, and need to be.

"People will be finding employment at similar pay levels either in supermarkets or as childcare workers where there's been a massive recruitment drive."

A spokesman for Four Seasons said: "We regret that our concerns are reflected in the Care Inspectorate report.

"Four Seasons has been engaging with the council and other care providers to see if there is another operator interested to take on the home."

Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership plans to move 49-residents elsewhere if a new operator does not take over the care home.
