Aberdeen baby ashes compensation bill revealed
Aberdeen City Council announced last year it planned to compensate families for past practices at Hazlehead Crematorium.
Families affected by the baby ashes scandal in Aberdeen have been paid more than £100,000 in compensation by the city council.
The sum's been revealed under Freedom of Information legislation.
Last year, Aberdeen city council announced it planned to compensate families for past practices at Hazlehead Crematorium.
It was revealed in 2013 that infants were cremated alongside the bodies of unrelated adults for a number of years without families being told.
The ashes of the two bodies were then given to the family of the adult.
Papers disclosed by Aberdeen City Council reveal 33 cases had been settled by the end of August - with a bill of 101 thousand pounds.
10 claims were rejected, with more than a hundred still to be assessed - that process is continuing.
