Aberdeen City Council has asked the people of the North East to invest in the city's art gallery.

The transformation is set to cost £30million with a third of that coming from public fundraising.

So far, £600,000 of the £10million target has been raised.

City Council leader Jenny Laing says they want people to invest in its future.

Cllr Laing said: "What we need top do now is we need to encourage people whether it be small donations or indeed companies to come forward and have a stake in the gallery.

"This will be a legacy for generations to come in the city.

"We're encouraging people to be a part of that.

"We want it to be "the people's gallery""
