An Aberdeen takeaway has committed their time on Christmas day to getting food to those who need it most.

Aberdam, who usually serve dutch style fries, want to bring smiles to faces this festive period.

They've gotten other businesses involved to aid in collecting the food, but they are needing help to make sure those most in need have a parcel coming to them on Christmas day.

They are being supported by the likes of Vegan bay baker and Smoke and Soul.

Co-Director Dave Griffiths told Northsound News:

"So we've decided this year to commit our time on Christmas day - which is probably the most valuable thing we can do as a small business - to brightening up the day for some people that might need it.

"We've reached out to other food and drink businesses to ask for donations of what they are willing to contribute to make up some food parcels on Christmas morning."

On the kinds of people they want to see nominated to receive a parcel Dave said:

"Weather it's a case of a family struggling to put food on the table, and elderly friend of releative.

"Perhaps people who are vulnerable or isolating

"Even parents that might be spending their first Christmas alone after a break up or something.

"Anyone in need this Christmas honestly."

The takeaway has also, with the help of their social media followers, already raised over £800.

This will go towards paying costs like petrol, but the remaining funds will go towards charities ManChat and CFine.
