Abandoned Guinea Pig found in a shoebox on Hogmanay

A Guinea Pig has been found abandoned in a shoebox in Aberdeen

It was found on New Years Eve by a member of the public who was out walking their dog near Grandholm Crescent, Bridge of Don.

Named Mr Hogg by staff, he is now in the care of the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Aberdeen.

Centre Assistant Manager Claire Tyczynska said, “Mr Hogg was found abandoned in a shoebox without any bedding, food or water.

“We are appealing for any information or if anyone noticed any suspicious activity we urge you to get in touch with our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”

Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.

Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
