74-year-old man from Aberdeen dies in A90 crash

The pensioner died after his car collided with a lorry near the Tipperty Junction.

A 74-year-old man has died following a crash on the A90 between Peterhead and Aberdeen Road on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened around 5.20pm near the Tipperty junction when a car collided with a lorry - the man driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two women who were passengers in the blue Volkswagen were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated for injuries.

The driver of the lorry was unharmed in the incident.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage.

Sgt Chris Smith of the North East Road Policing Unit said:

“We are trying to establish the full circumstances in to the collision and are appealing for anyone who may have seen either vehicle around the time of the collision or have dashcam footage to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2472 25th January, 2022. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved at this time."
