3 more deaths reported in Aberdeenshire care homes

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) today confirmed it is investigating the deaths of eight people at Inchmarlo, and 11 at the Deeside facility - an increase of 3 from the last report.

3 more deaths have been recorded in two Aberdeenshire care homes where there have been recent Covid outbreaks.

Last week the crown office opened up a investigation into the outbreak and subsequent deaths.

A spokesperson for the Crown office said:

“The Procurator Fiscal has received reports in connection with the deaths of eight people at Inchmarlo House Care Home, Aberdeenshire."

“The Procurator Fiscal has received reports in connection with the deaths of eleven people at Deeside Care Home, Cults."

“The investigation into the deaths is ongoing and the families will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments."

A spokesperson for the IMT: “There are currently 101 detected cases of COVID-19 associated with the outbreak at Inchmarlo House Care Home. We continue to support the home with staffing to ensure the care of residents.”

A spokesperson for Inchmarlo House Care Home said: “Our thoughts remain very much with those who have lost loved ones and for whom we feel the deepest sympathy. Everyone at Inchmarlo House Care Home continues to focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all our residents and staff, working in close collaboration with Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership.”

An update has also been provided on Edenholme Care home in Stonehaven.

A spokesperson for the IMT said: “There are now 27 detected cases of COVID-19 associated with Edenholme Care Home in Stonehaven. NHS Grampian and Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership are supporting the home to manage the outbreak. The home remains closed to admissions and visitors”.
