A man's appeared in court after Class A drugs with a 'street' value of more than £200,000 were recovered in a raid at a property in Torry yesterday.

Scott Simpson made no plea at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and was released on bail.

Detective Inspector Allen Shaw said: "This is a significant recovery of heroin which has thankfully been intercepted before it had the chance to reach the streets of the North East."

He added: "From executing drug search warrants to acting on intelligence from members of the public, activity takes place every day across the region to remove illegal substances from our communities.

"I would like to take this opportunity once again to reinforce just how important the information we receive from the public is when it comes to tackling drugs. You can always contact us on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous."
