£20,000 in parking charges cancelled
More than 300 North East drivers have had their parking notices cancelled - a total of £20,000.
It follows an investigation at the Sainsbury's in Garthdee.
Aberdeenshire Council Trading Standards started looking into this after a complaint from a resident.
They'd been sent a charge notice from Euro Car Parks after parking near the Sainsbury's at Garthdee.
Officials have found that - not only were parking attendents targetting cars which weren't on Sainsbury's property - they were also quoting a piece of legislation which doesn't apply in Scotland.
Euro Car Parks have now agreed to cancel ALL the notices issues at Garthdee - and they'll work with Trading Standards to make sure it doesn't happen again.
This isn't the first time officials in the Shire have made a parking company pay out - back in February Parking Eye had to refund £10,000 to people who'd parked outside the Lidl at Westhill.
Trading Standards are urging drivers to make sure they know their rights if they get one of these notices.
