1,700 homes in the North East are without power due to strong winds overnight.

Storm Frank has been battering the area, bringing with it gusts of up to 70mph and heavy rain.

The homes affected are mostly in Rosehearty, Sandhaven, Fraserburgh, and Balmedie. SSE say they hope to have all power restored by 1pm.

A 'flood alert' remains in place for the Grampian area, but Ballater has been upgraded to a strong 'flood warning' - with worries that the River Dee will burst its banks. Dee Street and a nearby caravan park are at high risk, and anyone in the area is urged to take "immediate action".

There are also fallen trees blocking a number of North East roads, including South Deeside Road, South Street in Mintlaw, and the B9000 Pitmedden to Newburgh Road.
