Every week through the summer we’re featuring five local events, perfect to for the family.
OLDMELDRUM SPORTS & HIGHLAND GAMES
Known as the sunshine games, Oldmeldrum Sports and Highland Games take place on Saturday at Pleasure Park in Meldrum.
The games open at 10.30 with the qualifying for the heavy events and draw to a close at 5pm with the final performance from the massed pipe bands, ahead of the marquee dance at night.
Plenty on offer across the day with stalls, pipe bands and all the usual Highland Games events plus the funfair is also in town with all the rides.

CASTLE FRASER STEAM & VINTAGE FAIR
Scotland's Largest Steam and Vintage Fair takes place this Saturday and Sunday at Castle Fraser.
The event includes steam engines, vintage tractors, vintage and classic cars and more – the kids always love it!
Plus this year, our very own Jeff will be judging the ‘Breakfast Competition’ … where folk attempt to cook their breakfast on the hot engines. What could possibly go wrong?

KINELLAR GALA
The annual gala day takes place this Saturday from 11am-4pm at the Blackburn Playing Fields.
Plenty for the family with inflatables for the kids and a beer tent for the adults! Stalls and games, plus face painting too.

ABERDEEN HIGHLAND GAMES
The City of Aberdeen’s annual games are held at Hazlehead Park in Aberdeen.
The games promise a day full of fun for all the family; from traditional Highland Games events, quality trade and charity stalls, stage entertainment, and community groups.
This year will also see a street food area plus a licensed bar.

WALKING TOUR OF ABERDEEN
Sure, we all know about the oil, granite, and weather… but do you know the historic stories of Aberdeen’s streets?
Scot Free Tours is running a walking tour of Aberdeen this Sunday morning, lasting around an hour and a half, covering much of the city center. Starting at the Mercat Cross and finishing at the Castlegate.
