Every week through the summer we’re featuring five local events, perfect to for the family.
BANCHORY SHOW
It’s show weekend at King George V Park in Banchory. The annual show has more than just the livestock showing, cheer on the teams in the Tug o War competition, enter your beloved pooch into the dog show …or maybe take part in the legendary Scolty Hill Race.
This year’s special event is a flypast by the historic RAF Lancaster Bomber.

BRAEMAR JUNIOR HIGHLAND GAMES
“Experience the best of Scotland with a day out at the Braemar Junior Highland Games” is how they sell it! …and who can argue?
Taking place at the Princess Royal & Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Braemar, it’s the youngsters' turn to take on the traditional games events ahead of the world-famous Gathering in a few weeks’ time.
Expect a fun day out for families where you can try out traditional highland games events and watch young pipers, drummers, dancers, and athletes show off their skills.
This year the junior games will feature a flypast of RAF Spitfire and Hurricane planes, they are expected to roar over the Cairngorms around 3 pm.

THE WIZZARD OF OZ – A SUMMER PANTO!
Panto is for Christmas? Oh no it isn’t! Or, so say the team at Aberdeen’s Tivoli Theatre.
This weekend you can enjoy a summer Pantomime in the city. Follow the team down the yellow brick road and watch a special performance of The Wizard of Oz.
Performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

PETERHEAD SCOTTISH WEEK
The annual gala week draws to a close with three final days of events this weekend.
All eyes will be on the skies above the blue toon on Friday when the Air Show takes place above the Bay. The show is bigger than ever this year with historic RAF planes performing a fly-past ahead of a special Dam Buster anniversary and the legendary Red Arrows.
Marking the 80th anniversary of the Dam Buster raid in Germany during the Second World War, a Lancaster bomber and a present-day Typhoon jet will also fly past in formation.
The world-famous Red Arrows will perform for the tenth time at Scottish week plus the Falcons parachute team are back again too.
Aprrox times;
Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire fly-past – 7pm
Dam Buster 80th Formation with Lancaster and Typhoon – 7.15pm
Red Arrows – 7.30pm
RAF Falcons Parachute Display – 8.15pm
Other highlights across the weekend include the annual ASCO carnival parade on Saturday at 2 pm plus the Blue Light display on Sunday at the Fire Station.
There are events all week.

ZIPPOS CIRCUS
Zippos traditional circus is in Stonehaven this week! The Big Top opens at Baird Park on Wednesday, July 19th with shows until the 23rd.
The traveling tour for 2023 is called ‘Nomads’ which celebrates the circuses’ nomadic way of life and features performers from across the world, including Mongolia, Brazil, and Spain!
