Strictly bosses considering 'isolating' pro dancers ahead of new series
The show is thought to go ahead later this year
Strictly Come Dancing bosses are thought to be considering isolating their professional dancers before they go into rehearsals due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The show is reportedly considering having all of their pro dancers isolate together, in order for them to start rehearsing remotely in July and pre-record all of their group numbers. The numbers will be recorded in a small studio, and aired throughout the 2020 series.
Radio Times reports that a BBC representative said, "The BBC and the entire Strictly family are working hard to ensure everyone can enjoy some much-needed Strictly sparkle later this year. Our professional dancers are set to start rehearsing remotely at the end of July."
They continued, "As we continue to follow the latest guidance from Public Health England and industry guidelines, we are considering isolating the dancers and key production members to enable our much-loved group numbers to continue."
The BBC representative added, "The safety of our cast and crew is of the utmost importance to us and further updates will be made in due course."
Whilst many TV shows have been postponed due to the pandemic, Strictly Come Dancing is still planned to air in September, with show judge Shirley Ballas claiming she's 99% sure Strictly will go ahead in 2020. Fellow judge Len Goodman added that he would be "devastated" if the BBC postpones the 2020 series.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the former BGT winner said: "If it was on a technical level, that would be horrendous, so I'd definitely love to give it a go. But I'm not sure people would see that. They'd probably see an unfair advantage. People thought I was cheating on Dancing on Ice, let alone Strictly Come Dancing."
Tom Malone Jr
After leaving Gogglebox earlier this year, Tom Malone Jr has expressed his interest in appearing on Strictly. He told the Express: "If the opportunity came up to go on Strictly as a contestant, I've never done Ballroom in my life, so it'd be interesting to see how as someone who breaks."
Munroe Bergdorf
Model Munroe Bergdorf has revealed she wants to make history by becoming Strictly Come Dancing's first ever transgender contestant.
She told the Make It Reign podcast: "I've always said that 'Strictly' is the only one that I've got a desire to do. I've got a plan. I want to get everything done that I want to achieve, then I can start doing those shows. It's really exciting."
Carrie Symonds
Prime Minister Boris Johnson's partner Carrie Symonds has also been a name on the rumour mill. However, judge Shirley Ballas seemed to dismiss these claims recently, telling Metro.co.uk: "99.9999%, it is a family show, it's not a political agenda."
