Phillip Schofield has revealed that he once had to save his own father's life after he suffered a heart attack. The This Morning presenter spoke about the terrifying ordeal on today's show (11th June), admitting that his dad Brian had "died right in front of him."

The 56-year-old host told the story of how, at 22-years-old, his father had fallen onto the carpet - but thankfully, Phil had been able to bring him back by using CPR skills that he'd picked up from watching TV.

He recounted the story, saying, "I've done it myself, brought my dad back. He had a heart attack and died in front of us on the carpet."

Although Phillip's dad sadly passed away in 2008 at 72-years-old, Phil proudly revealed that he'd been able to help his dad live much longer after that moment, "I hadn't trained at all, but just used what I'd seen on the telly, and it worked. He got another 25 years."

Phil's revelation came during a segment about West Yorkshire firefighter Stefan Taylor, who'd been able to save the life of a little boy whilst on holiday in Turkey after he'd been found unconscious in a swimming pool.

Stefan pleaded with viewers to learn how to do CPR, saying, "It could save somebody's life. This course is out there, you can go on the Internet and do a day course to do basic CPR.

"There might be one day in your life when you can save someone's life. Something is better than nothing. To work on somebody and bring them back is unbelievable."

This Morning is on ITV every weekday at 10.30am.
