When Phoebe Waller-Bridge announced that the second season of Fleabag would be the last, fans of the show were left utterly bereft. Was it really the end for Fleabag and The Priest? Did Claire get her happily ever after with Claire? So many questions left unanswered - seemingly for eternity.

Thankfully, Phoebe has said that she'd never planned on doing a second series of the show until she had the excellent idea of The Priest noticing her 'breaking the fourth wall' moments - so there's the slim chance that she'll have another excellent idea, or indeed actually do her joke of reuniting the cast for a series when they're all 50.

Andrew Scott AKA The Priest - or The Hot Priest, as he became known - has revealed that he'll be there to return for the show whenever Phoebe wants him, and would be well up for stepping into his priestly shoes once again when they're 50.

When asked by Digital Spy if he'd do it, he said, "Oh, I'll probably be dead. But if I'm still alive, yeah. Listen, I'll be there, whatever she wants me to do."

But he also revealed that he's actually GLAD Phoebe won't be making any more series. Before you clutch your hands to your chest in shock, here's what he said, "I love the fact that that story was completely self-contained and beautiful. I think sometimes when something is a success, you just want to elongate it for kind of the wrong reasons."

So poetic.

We all know and love it as Friends, but the TV show could have been called something very different...

He added, "With Phoebe, the thing that's amazing about her is that she's so instinctive about it. I really admire that something's been a huge success, and she goes: 'No, no, no – this is what I'm going to do next year'.

"It just shows the person that she is. Because I'm sure that there's a lot of enticing things that she's not been distracted by. I think that's kind of admirable, in a way."

He then emphasised the importance of letting the show finish on a high, "Unless you have a real reason to write it, audiences really pick it up, and then you sort of spoil something that's actually really special to people. I'll see what happens with Fleabag in 10 or 15 years."

We can but hope!
