Rudimental & Disclosure Nominated For Mercury Prize

Rudimental and Disclosure have both been nominated for this year’s prestigious Barclaycard Mercury Prize.

Now in its 22nd year, the Mercury Prize honours the UK & Ireland’s 12 ‘albums of the year’ as selected by a panel of music industry judges.

After a phenomenal past year for both artists, Rudimental’s ‘Home’ and Disclosure’s ‘Settle’ are among the dozen nominees for the coveted award.

On Twitter last night, Disclosure wrote: “Very VERY happy to announce we are up for a @MercuryPrize.”

Also on the shortlist are Arctic Monkeys’ ‘AM’, David Bowie’s ‘The Next Day’, Foals’ ‘Holy Fire’ and Jake Bugg’s self-titled debut.

Simon Frith, Chair of Judges, said of this year’s shortlist: “This year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize shortlist celebrates a fascinating year for British and Irish music, marked by a wonderful range of musical voices – urgent, reflective, upbeat and tender, acoustic and electronic, and all with something intriguing to say.”

The overall 2013 winner will be announced at The Roundhouse in Camden on Wednesday 30th October.

Previous recipients of the award include Dizzee Rascal (‘Boy in da Corner’ in 2003), Arctic Monkeys (‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ in 2006) and Alt-J (‘An Awesome Wave’ in 2012).
