Katy Perry and Arctic Monkeys To Perform At 2014 BRIT Awards

Katy Perry and Arctic Monkeys have been confirmed as the first live acts at the 2014 BRIT Awards.
Taking place at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday 19th February, James Corden will host the ceremony for the fifth and final time, making him the longest serving presenter in BRIT Awards history.
James said: “I really love the BRITs. I'm such a fan. I'll miss not doing it after this one but fully intend to enjoy every second of BRITs 2014.”
Fresh from storming the charts with their critically acclaimed fifth album ‘AM’ this autumn, Arctic Monkeys will have the honour of opening the 34th anniversary bash in what will be their first ever BRITs performance.
The Sheffield band have been nominated for eleven BRIT Awards since breaking through in 2005 and won a total of four – Best Group and Best Album twice.
Alongside the Arctic Monkeys, global superstar Katy Perry will also be making her inaugural live performance at The BRITs.
The winner of 2009’s International Female Solo Artist enthused: “The BRITs has always showcased the music that I love and am influenced by. It's an honour to play at such a prestigious event where musicality shines at its brightest."
It’s also been revealed that esteemed hat designer and all round fashion icon, Philip Treacy, has designed the 2014 BRIT Awards statue. Check it out below!
Following in the footsteps of Vivienne Westwood, Peter Blake and Damien Hirst, Treacy has brought his own eye catching vision to the BRITs statue.
He said: “Music has always been my inspiration and I’m fortunate to have worked with some of the music industry’s greatest artists. My inspiration for the trophy comes from a uniquely British genre of music, Punk.”
Treacy has previously worked with artists including Madonna, Grace Jones, Paloma Faith, Cher, Cheryl Cole, Jamiroquai and Boy George, and designed Lady Gaga’s iconic mask and headpiece for the 2010 BRITs ceremony.
