It's safe to say that Rihanna is a woman of many talents. From her hugely successful music career, which has seen her release eight brilliant albums and win an array of awards, in addition to launching her mega popular Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin brands - there appears to be nothing that the 36-year-old can't do.

In addition to taking the charts by storm, RiRi has also conquered the world of acting, having appeared in several films and television shows so far, with more to come in the form of the upcoming Smurfs Movie. To get to know more about Rihanna's acting career, we've taken a look at the films and TV shows she's starred in.

Las Vegas (2005)

Although she wasn't necessarily acting, Rihanna appeared in an episode of the comedy drama series Las Vegas back in 2005. In the episode, Rihanna appears as herself, performing her song 'Pon De Replay'.

All My Children (2006)

In a July 2006 episode of the soap opera All My Children, an 18-year-old Rihanna made an appearance, where she sang tracks including 'SOS' at a club opening on the show. Rihanna also made her way down a red carpet, where there were reporters who were also playing themselves.

Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006)

Rihanna appeared in the comedy film Bring It On: All or Nothing, which was released in August 2006 and was the third in the series of Bring It On films. Rihanna appears as herself in the film, which stars Solange Knowles and Hayden Panettiere.

Battleship (2012)

Rihanna starred in the 2012 film Battleship, where she took on the role of Gunner's Mate Second Class Cora Raikes. The film saw Rihanna make her acting debut.


Speaking about why she chose it as her first film back in 2012, Rihanna told the BBC: "I wanted my first role to be, most importantly, one that I was capable of mastering and performing well in. It was all brand new. It was all something that was difficult. But it was exciting, it was a good experience."

This Is The End (2013)

Rihanna made an appearance in the 2013 apocalyptic comedy horror film This Is The End, which stars James Franco, Jonah Hill and Emma Watson. Rihanna stars as herself in the film, which sees most of the cast play fictionalised versions of themselves.

Annie (2014)

Rihanna had a cameo in the 2014 remake of Annie, playing a character called Moon Goddess. The musical comedy drama saw Quvenzhané Wallis play the title role, starring alongside actors including Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz.

Home (2015)

Rihanna voiced the character of Tip Tucci in the 2015 animated film Home. Rihanna also recorded songs for the film's soundtrack, including the single 'Towards the Sun'.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)

Rihanna made a cameo appearance as herself in the 2016 mockumentary musical comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. The film features Andy Samberg as the fictional popstar Conner Friel and includes cameos from superstars including Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Katy Perry.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)

Rihanna appeared in the 2017 film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, playing the role of Bubble. he space opera film, which is based on the Valérian and Laureline comic books, also stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne. Rihanna's character Bubble is a shape-shifting alien who Valerian and Laureline meet.

Bates Motel (2017)

Rihanna starred as the character Marion Crane in the fifth series of the psychological horror drama show Bates Motel. Speaking at the time her role was announced, the show's executive producer, Carlton Cuse, said: "I read this article in which she said she was a fan of Bates Motel.


"We asked and she said yes. It was awesome. We're really excited about it. It really feels very much like the version of the character that is different from the movie."

Ocean's 8 (2018)

Rihanna played the role of hacker Nine Ball in the 2018 film Ocean's 8. Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway also star. In Rihanna's Vogue cover story back in June 2018, it was revealed that her character in the film was inspired by the singer's Bajan roots.


Ocean's 8 director Gary Ross said: "Rihanna is so bravely authentic. She doesn't care what people think of her; she's fully invested in being herself. She also has a seriousness of purpose and focus that not a lot of people have. It's all about the work, and it doesn't come with any excess personal baggage."

Guava Island (2019)

Rihanna took on the role of Kofi in the 2019 film Guava Island. The American musical film saw Rihanna take on a lead role, starring alongside Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino.

The Smurfs Movie (2025)

Rihanna is set to star in the upcoming Smurfs Movie, which is set to be released in February 2025. She will voice the character of Smurfette, write and sing original songs for the film, as well being credited as a producer.
