Jim Carrey 'won't' return in possible upcoming The Grinch sequel
There had been rumours

Jim Carrey won't be reprise his iconic role of the Grinch in an upcoming sequel to the classic Christmas movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas, despite recent reports.
The 61-year-old actor took on the character in the much-loved festive movie, which was released in 2000. In the film, the Grinch hates Christmas and devises a plan to cancel it forever.
Addressing the rumours, a rep for Jim told People: "There is no truth to Jim reprising his role as the Grinch in a sequel to The Grinch."
Giant Freaking Robot reported that a Grinch sequel is on the way, claiming that Jim was set to return in the role of the Grinch. They said: "Jim Carrey is returning to Universal Pictures for The Grinch 2, once again playing Dr Seuss's most famous and ill-tempered creation."
The publication went on to say that Jim is 'coming back as the character after an absence of other 20 years.' Jim has previously announced that he was 'retiring' from acting.
Speaking to Access Hollywood whilst promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 2022, Jim said: "It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink, that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road. But I'm taking a break."
Back in 2017, Jim told CinemaBlend that he wasn't a fan of sequels. He said: "I find sequels are a function of commerce for the most part. At least the two I've done, they were characters I enjoyed doing, but I did find myself almost parroting myself at that point.
"When you put 10 years between you and the last time you did it, suddenly you're going, 'How did I do that again?' So you're imitating your original inspiration."
