7 Doric words that SHOULD be in the dictionary
Jeff and Lauren asked the North-east for their favourites
Have you heard? Over 650 new words, senses and subentries have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary and among them, there are 18 Scottish words. Northsound 1's Jeff and Lauren did some investigative work and found out these are the words that have been added.
Baffie, Bowfing, Coorie, Geggie, Weegie, Bam, Bampot, Bamstick, Bawbag, Bealach, Bide-in, Bidie-in, Bosie, Fantoosh, Sitooterie, Baff, Rooked and Bowf.
As you can see, these words are somewhat lacking in any flavour of our beloved Doric. Jeff and Lauren asked for your help to find the best Doric words that we use everyday up here in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, to add to the Oxford English Dictionary.
Have a listen to some of your calls, they were hilarious!
