Simon Cowell says ‘sorry’ to One Direction for making them famous
Simon is 'annoyed' they didn't approach him for solo deals
Music mogul Simon Cowell has apologised to the One Direction boys for ‘making them famous’ as he reveals he was ‘annoyed’ that they didn’t approach him for their solo projects.
Speaking about the likes of Zayn Malik and Liam Payne, who signed solo deals with other record labels, The X Factor judge admitted he ‘got the hint’ despite putting the boys together in the band.

Speaking ahead of the America’s Got Talent final, Simon said "I hear so many things now, which they're doing, which I'm not involved with. It's a bit like I'm getting the hint you don't want me to come to the party. Sorry for making you famous.”
Despite his words, Simon went on to add he isn’t ‘bitter’, saying "Look, I'm not going to lie when I hear they're doing something, and they haven't approached me. You think, 'Well I would have liked you to,' but it's their choice. I'm not bitter.”
When Liam Payne announced to fans he had signed a solo deal with Capitol records, Simon vented his annoyance when he said "It is a bit annoying if I am honest with you, mainly because it is another label who has now got your artist who you worked with for so many years. But that is the music business, unfortunately. I don't think anyone else from the band will do that."
Despite not signing with Syco, the 1D boys who are embarking on solo projects will be hoping to mirror the success of Zayn Malik with their debut albums.
