The pair announced their split just weeks ago!

Just as we are excitedly gearing up for the new series of Love Island to hit our TV screens this summer, past contestant Cara de la Hoyde has revealed she's expecting a baby with her ex-boyfriend Nathan Massey.

Since meeting on the show last year everything seemed to be going well in Cara and Nathan's relationship, that was until the couple confirmed their split last month.

Now Cara has revealed she is expecting her first child and discovered the news just two weeks before the couple went their separate ways.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Cara said, “It’s a shame and a sad situation. I know a lot of people will think, well you’re going to have a baby together so just stay together – but we’re not going to do that just to look like the perfect couple.”

The couple, who won the ITV2 dating show last year, announced their split in April via their soical media channels.

TOWIE star Nathan shared a snap of himself looking to the floor with the caption, 'The worst feeling in the world is when you know that you both love each other , but still you can't be together ! Me and Cara have split, we've had the summer of our lives together , but sadly come to a end , I wish her the best for the future đź’”.'

Cara later confirmed the news when she took to Twitter to write, 'Me & nath have split 💔 sometimes love just isn't enough, but what will be will be ❤️ thankyou for everyone's support lately'.

Despite the baby news, Cara has made it clear the couple won't be getting back together for the sake of the little one.

However she also admitted that Nathan has vowed to support her and their baby every step of the way.

She said, "We're still good friends. He's going to be there for the baby and I'm making him aware of all the midwife appointments and scans, so he's in the loop and so's his mum."

This won't be the first Love Island baby!

Earlier in the month it was confirmed past contestants Cally Jane Beech and Luis Morrison had welcomed a baby girl into the world.

Documenting her long labour, Cally revealed they'd welcomed baby Vienna into the world on Sunday 7th May.

The news of the birth was confirmed via a statement which read, "Cally & Luis welcomed their gorgeous baby girl named Vienna Morrison Beech. Vienna arrived safely by Emergency c section at 2.30 AM today. Weighing 5lbs 9. Mummy is doing well.”

The 2017 series of Love Island is set to land on our TV screens very soon!
