Hollyoaks actress and former star of The X Factor Rachel Adedeji has announced she's expecting her first child with her husband Jason Finnegan.

Rachel, who plays the role of Lisa Loveday in the Channel 4 soap, announced her happy news on her social media accounts and confirmed she is six months pregnant.

Sharing a photo of herself and her husband Jason holding her bump, Rachel wrote, 'Delighted to say that Jason and I are expecting our first child! Baby Adedeji will be due 27th December Xx 👶🏾 #PregnancyAnnouncement #BabyNews'.

Fans of the actress were quick to congratulate the couple on their happy news. One user wrote, 'Congratulations to you both xxx', with another adding, 'Congratulations to u bothđź’śđź’ś'.

Rachel first shot to fame when she appeared on The X Factor in Dannii Minogue's category back in 2009. Despite finishing in ninth place on the show behind the likes of Olly Murs and Joe McElderry, the singer turned actress went on to enjoy success on stage. Rachel played Mary Magdalene in the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar as well as starring in the Michael Jackson musical Thriller Live.

Rachel then joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2016 as loud mouth Lisa Loveday. The character was previously known as the six-year-old girl who was kidnapped when her parents Simone and Louis failed to pick her up from school.

With another girl faking her identify, Lisa arrived in the village all grown up. In recent weeks Rachel's character Lisa has offered to be her on-screen mum's surrogate, so fans are wondering if the soap will tie in her own pregnancy to the story.

The actress married her long term partner Jason back in 2015 during a romantic ceremony in Buckinghamshire. Last year Rachel shared a shot from her wedding day to celebrate the couple's one year anniversary.

Rachel follows her friends and fellow Hollyoaks co-stars Jennifer Metcalfe and Chelsee Healey. Both stars of the show welcomed their first children this year.

Jennifer, who plays mouthy character Mercedes McQueen, welcomed a baby boy called Daye Colmic Lake on on 20th June 2017. A rep for the couple said, "We are delighted to announce that our client Jennifer Metcalfe and partner Greg Lake have welcome a baby boy into the world yesterday. Mother and baby are doing fine."

Just last week the couple then shared the first photos of baby Daye.

Chelsee Healey, who plays Jennifer's cousin in the soap, also welcomed her first child back in July. Chelsee revealed she'd given birth to a baby girl and just recently announced she has decided to call her Coco Valentine Healey Molloy.

Rachel's baby is due in December. Congratulations to the happy couple! 👶
