A fan theory that singer Avril Lavigne died in 2003 has resurfaced and we can’t quite believe somebody has thought of it.

As you know, there are many outrageous conspiracy theories going around the Internet, from Freddie Tomlinson not being a real baby to Justin Bieber being a reptoid, but this one could be one of the most extreme yet!

Some music fans have conducted the theory that noughties rock chic Avril Lavigne actually died in 2003 and was replaced by a lookalike who then continued her career without anybody noticing….

According to the theory, after the death of her grandfather Avril fell into depression and was replaced by a lookalike called Melissa Vandella, who has since played the singer. Of course fans believe this was all covered up by her record label who hired Melissa after Avril's apparent death.

Sounds insane doesn’t it?

Well the theory stemmed from fans who claimed Avril’s voice is different, her autograph has changed and the size and shape of her nose has been altered. Fans say these factors are ‘proof’ that Avril is not actually Avril.

Although the basis of this theory has been around a while, it has resurfaced after another hoax blog called ‘Avril is Dead’ was posted earlier in the week.

The hoax site posted the following message “At about 11 a.m. ET on Monday (September 26, 2016), our beloved singer Avril Lavigne passed away. Avril Lavigne was born on September 27, 1984 in Belleville.”

Thousands of condolence messages from fans poured in before fans brought back up the conspiracy theory.

Of course, Avril is not dead, in fact the singer actually celebrated her 32nd birthday on Tuesday 27th September and is constantly keeping fans updated on her Instagram account.
