Comedian Bob Mortimer has triple heart bypass operation
He is currently recovering in hospital
Comedian Bob Mortimer is recovering in hospital after undergoing a triple heart bypass operation.
The 56-year-old’s spokesperson Neil Reading confirmed that that operation had been successful but he would now need several weeks to recover.
Bob was due to start his nationwide tour with comedy partner Vic Reeves next month to mark their 25th anniversary, however the first leg of shows have now been cancelled.
Mr Reading said: "I'm so pleased the operation has gone well and Bob is fixed. Many thanks to the surgeon.
“Bob would like to thank his Consultant and all the nursing staff at the hospital for looking after him so well.
“He now needs several weeks to fully recover, so unfortunately the first leg of the UK tour will be cancelled. Bob very much hopes to be fit and well enough to perform the second leg in January next year.”
All shows on the 25 Years Of Reeves And Mortimer: The Poignant Moments tour from 8th November to 4th December have been axed.
Ticket holders for shows in Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Blackpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield, Bristol, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Sheffield, Ipswich, Nottingham and Brighton can get refunds from the point of purchase.
