Celebrities wish bullied 8-year-old 'Happy Birthday' after his dad's heartfelt plea
He made the plea on Twitter
Celebrities around the world have tweeted their well-wishes to a soon to be 9-year-old boy after his dad asked for help in getting happy birthday messages for his bullied son.
In a number of tweets, Twitter user 'hopenlesmyth' wrote, 'Strange request. Anyone know anyone famous/well known who could send Ollie a positive/9th birthday message. The bully keeps saying to him that everything O has, he has bigger/better/more often. O excited for his birthday but keeps being told it won't be as good as his own.'
He continued, 'I would be so grateful and I appreciate it is an odd request. Just would love someone to tell him he does mean something and bullying is not.'
It wasn't long before celebs began tweeting their support.
British astronaut Tim Peake tweeted 'Hope your 9th birthday is out of this world Ollie'.
Gladiator actor Russell Crowe sent little Ollie a message.
Comedian and Absolute Radio presenter Jason Manford called on others to send messages as well as saying 'Happy Birthday' too.
Rapper Stormzy had some advice about bullies and called Ollie a 'lil legend'.
Whilst comedian Dawn French said she would be naming the birthday boy 'Ollie the Mighty'.
Eric Keyes, a character designer on The Simpsons got involved too.
And the England football team even offered Ollie the chance to go and see them in September.
The Big Bang Theory and Star Trek: The Next Generation actor, Wil Wheaton, also sent a message telling Ollie to 'always be kind, work hard, do your best'.
And presenter and 2016 Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba said 'Another year bigger, bolder, braver... And a better man than any of those bullies ever will be! Have an amazing day'.
The tweeter's wife, Natalie, used his account to reply to everyone who had messaged her son. She wrote, 'I don't 'tweet' and always go on at him for spending too much time on Twitter!! However, this time I am completely overwhelmed by everyones kind thoughts.
'You do not know what this means to me and will to Ollie when we show him. I have been battling with this matter for over a year and am only just now being listened to.
'It is heartbreaking listening to an 8 year old think that he is worthless and 'shouldn't be here'. I know that we are definitely not the only ones in the world to be going through this but I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart 'Thank You' so much. You really don't know what this means, Natalie xx'
As well as celebs many other Twitter users wished Ollie 'Happy Birthday' too.
Happy Birthday Ollie!
