13 year old girl with Cystic Fibrosis
This post is in memory of a very special girl
Kayla has Cystic Fibrosis which has resulted in her being in hospital since September 2018. Three months ago Kayla caught the flu in hospital which resulted in her deteriorating rapidly and almost dying. It was a miracle that she survived but she is now on oxygen for life and wheelchair bound. She has recently been allowed to start visiting home again where she hopes to stay again one day with her Mum and younger brother and sister.
Kayla faces deprivation daily due to her family circumstances on top of her medical problems. These both affect her mental health greatly and visiting home helps her immensely because she has been in hospital for almost a year. Kayla faces risk of infection if she uses the bus and it takes 45 minutes each way from her house to the hospital which means her time at home is limited. cash for Kids paid for taxi fare to allow Kayla to visit her family as often as she was well enough to travel. Taking a taxi eases her stress and gives her more time with her family.
Unfortunately Kayla lost her battle with her illness earlier this year and Cash for Kids stepped in to pay for her funeral expenses.
