Wes Burns hopes European debut goal is first of many for Aberdeen
Aberdeen newcomer Wes Burns aims to carry on scoring after a whirlwind start to his Dons career.
The 21-year-old forward completed a loan move from Bristol City just in time to play in the Europa League clash with Ventspils and he came off the bench to head home an injury-time corner and give his new team a 3-0 first-leg lead.
The Wales Under-21 international told RedTV: I don't think anyone could have written it better. The manager just told me to make a nuisance of myself, run behind and stretch them. It worked, we got a corner and I scored.
We weren't even sure if the clearance would go through in time because everything was a rush but thankfully everything got sorted. It's been a crazy 24 hours.
I have heard good things about Aberdeen and I saw how well they did last season. I'm excited to be here and hopefully I can carry on scoring goals.''
Aberdeen will face either Maribor or Levski Sofia in the third qualifying round if they come through the second leg in Latvia unscathed. The pair drew 0-0 in Slovenia in their first leg.
