The army's helping to remove debris from Ballater's Royal Bridge today - as the area recovers from the devastation of Storm Frank four months ago.

The stone bridge was hit by a number of caravans when the River Dee burst its banks at the end of December.

Parts of at least three of them are still wrapped round the northern end of the crossing.

Soldiers are teaming up with workers at Aberdeenshire Council to cut up and remove the debris around the base of the bridge.

It follows an offer of help from 51 Brigade based in Stirling.
