The family of an elderly pedestrian who died after being hit by a car has paid tribute to a ``much-loved mum, granny and great granny''.

The family of an elderly pedestrian who died after being hit by a car has paid tribute to a much-loved mum, granny and great granny''.

Mary Donald, 89, was crossing a bridge on the A920 South Road in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday morning when the collision occurred.

She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but she died from her injuries.

Her family said in a statement: Mary was very well known in Ellon, where she had lived for many years. She was known for being out walking, which she did everyday rain or shine.

She was a very independent lady, she had been a widow for over 30 years. She was a much-loved mum, granny and great granny.

Mum will be sorely missed by both family and friends.''

Police are continuing inquiries and ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 101. The 65-year-old female driver of the Peugeot 208 was not injured in the collision.
