Royal Dutch Shell to cut 2,800 jobs after BG group takeover

Shell have announced that 2,800 of it's work force will be made redundant as part of a plan to take over BG Group.

The deal is worth around £47bn and has now been approved by regulators.

The cuts are on top of a further 7,500 job losses announced back in July.

The price of oil is currently at a seven year low, with both Brent crude and US crude now below $40 a barrel.
