RGU And Aberdeen University Launch Safe Taxi Scheme For Students

Published 1st Sep 2015

Robert Gordon University Students Union has worked together with Rainbow City Taxis to provide a safe taxi scheme for veulnerable students with no money.

It's being launched just in time for freshers week, and will allow students from RGU and Aberdeen University to get a taxi by using their student card as payment.

In order to do so, they will just need to call up Rainbow City Taxis, request a 'safe student taxi', the vehicle will then be delivered to the location. Then to pay the student will have to hand over their student card.

Rainbow City Taxis will take a valid student card as a temporary payment and return it to either RGU’s Students’ Union or the University of Aberdeen’s Student Association, where the student will repay the cost on collection of their card.

It follows similar schemes in Scottish cities such as Glasgow and Stirling.
