Police name woman hit by lorry
The woman who was knocked down and killed by a lorry in Aberdeen city centre yesterday has been named as 51 year old Gwen Thomson from Torry.
A woman who was knocked down and killed by a lorry has been named by police.
Gwen Thomson, 51, was hit by an HGV at about 8.30am on Wednesday in Market Street, Aberdeen.
Police said members of the public went to her aid before paramedics arrived at the scene.
The lorry driver, a 60-year-old man, was not injured in the collision.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
Inspector Jon Barron said: Our thoughts are very much with Gwen's family, friends and work colleagues at this very sad time.
I would also like to thank those who rendered first aid and went directly to
her assistance until the arrival of the ambulance and police.
We have spoken to a number of witnesses to the incident already. However, I would urge anyone who hasn't yet been in contact with us to do so in order to help piece together exactly what happened."
