Listen : Paul Lawrie on the success of his golf event.
Tournament host Paul Lawrie's keen to stress the many positives - and rightly so - as the inaugural Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Matchplay came to an exciting conclusion on Sunday.
The course at Murcar Links received universal praise from the 64-man field, both in terms of its condition - especially the superb greens - and suitability for a matchplay tournament.
The organisation from 4Sports and Entertainment ran like clockwork and there were even no complaints from the 32 players knocked out in the first round who received no prize money.
Although Lawrie himself was knocked out in the second round, fellow Aberdeen native Richie Ramsay reached the quarter-finals and second seed Marc Warren ensured there was home interest on the final day, making the semi-finals and also contesting the third/fourth place play-off.
The tournament has a three-year contract with the European Tour, although Lawrie says no decision had yet been taken on the venue or date for next year. We'd like to know what you think. Tell us on Twitter @northsoundnews.
