They're suffering from anxiety and depression - either because they've lost their job, they're worried they might be at risk of redundancy, or they've got concerns about a drop in income.
The huge demand has led to a waiting list of up to five months for those seeking help.
Well over 5,000 people have been made redundant in the North East since the price of oil started falling a year ago.
