LISTEN: Local MSP Urges Justice Secretary To Save Aberdeen Police Control Centre
Local MSP Lewis McDonald has written to Justice Secretary Michael Matheson, in a bid to save Aberdeen's police control centre.
Current plans will see the centre shut down later in the year, with all North East emergency calls then being directed to a control centre in the central belt.
It comes after a fatal crash, involving a couple on the M9, was left undiscovered for three days, even though Police had been alerted to the accident on the same day it happened.
Now, MSP Lewis McDonald is worried that a similar incident could happen again in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire, if controllers from the central belt don't have sufficient local knowledge of the area.
Our reporter Hope Webb sat down with MSP Lewis McDonald, to discuss the issue.
