It's been revealed that the granite being used to build Aberdeen's Marischal Square is from China.

Muse Developers say the decision was after an "exhausting tendering process" - however it's caused an uproar from many.

Aberdeen used to be the world's biggest supplier of granite, and is even nicknamed 'the granite city'.

Many are now calling for Muse to recycle granite from demolished buildings for the £107m project.

Instead, the rock will be transported from the Far East to the North East by ship, and is expected to arrive at Aberdeen harbour in the spring.

We spoke to John Forbers, the Director of Bon Accord Granite. He said sourcing granite locally is nearly impossible.
