LISTEN: Convenor Of Education Addresses Rise In Teacher Vacancies Since Teacher Summit

Published 6th Nov 2015

The Convenor of Education at Aberdeen City Council says they all doing all they can to make sure schools aren't affected - after the number of teacher vacancies in Aberdeen's primary schools has jumped since the Teachers Summit.

When the Teacher Summit took place at the Beach Ballroom in September, the number of teacher posts empty in Aberdeen's primary schools sat at 44. It has now risen to 55.

The summit addressed the urgent need to make the Granite City a more inviting place for teachers to come, by offering more affordable housing, creating wider advertising campaigns and possibly offering larger wages for coming to the North East.

Our reporter Hope Webb asked the Convenor of Education at Aberdeen City Council, Angela Taylor, about the effect the vacancies are having on our schools.
