LISTEN: City Council Defends Bus Lane Fines

Published 10th Aug 2015

Aberdeen City Council have defended the large number of bus lane fines handed out in the city.

It's been revealed that more than 2,000 motorists a month are being caught in Aberdeen's bus lanes.

New figures show the council-run bus lane cameras snapped 12,208 drivers in the first six months in the year - generating around £700,000 in fines.

The figures mean that more drivers are being fined in the Granite City than Edinburgh, which has twice as many bus lanes.

Our reporter Hope Webb sat down with Cllr Neil Cooney, Convenor of Housing and Infastructure at Aberdeen City Council, to discuss the issue.
