LISTEN: 12-Year-Old Aberdeen Girl Saves Classmate From Drowning

Published 16th Oct 2015

Northsound News has been speaking to a 12-year-old girl, from Aberdeen, who saved her classmate from drowning.

Becky, was on a school trip with Abbottswell Primary School, to Cromdale in the Highlands.

They were taking part in gorge walking, an activity where you walk, slide and swim through river rapids.

They were near the end of the activity, when they had to slide down a small waterfall and into a pool at the bottom. This is when one of her classmates went under the water and began to struggle.

Becky instinctively jumped in after him, grabbed him, and swam them both back to safety.

She says her quick thining and skill was down to 'Rookie Lifegaurd Training' lessons she'd been taking at Kincorth Swimming Pool through Sport Aberdeen.

Our reporter Hope Webb sat down with Becky and her Mum, Sarah.
