A number of sentimental items left at gravesides in Fraserburgh have been stolen.

Numerous ornaments, including a heart-shaped trinket and a vase, were discovered missing by families over a four month perio between December 2015 and April 2016

A grave marker and a remembrance pot were also damaged.

Police Sergeant Scott Massie said: "To steal from a graveside is beyond despicable, and I don't think I need to stress the immense upset the theft and damage of these sentimental items have caused.

"We are following a positive line of enquiry in relation this case, however I would urge anyone who has any information about these thefts, or anyone who has noticed any suspicious activity in the cemetery during this period, to please come forward. Any information at all could help."
