Is this the end for the Torcher Parade?
The famous charity parade through the streets of Aberdeen - due to take place on Saturday - has been cancelled
Has a piece of Aberdeen history come to an end?
This weekend's Torcher Parade has been called off, and there's a question mark over the future of the event.
This Saturday was supposed to be the 127th annual Torcher Parade through the streets of Aberdeen.
It's organised by the city's students to raise money for charity.
But in recent years there's been a decline in the numbers taking part, and smaller crowds.
It's partly being blamed on the extension of final exams into May, when the event was traditionally held.
But there's also speculation the oil slump has led to a drop in corporate backing.
And now the City Council now says it can't put on enough staff to manage the traffic.
It coincides with their winter maintenance programme.
An alternative event called "Farewell for Now to the Torcher Parade" will be held at Aberdeen Uni on Saturday instead.
But unless there's a surge in interest, it's feared we could have seen the last ever in the Granite City.
