Drop In Crime In Aberdeen City

Published 27th Aug 2015

New figures have shown a fall in the number of crimes within the Granite City.

Crimes such as housebreaking, car crimes, and voilent crimes have seen the biggest drop.

The figures for Q1 2015/16 show that the number of housebreakings dropped by 33.9% while break-ins to vehicles fell by 36.5%.

However, drug crimes have risen by 37.1% and sexual assaults have jumped up by 8.5%.

But Aberdeen City Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Adrian Watson believes that is down to more people coming forward.

He said: "While it is encouraging to see the total number of crimes falling for another year, the hard work does not stop here. In Aberdeen City, we believe that 'one crime is one too many' and it is this approach that has won our division a number of awards over the years. The public can be reassured that we will not rest on our laurels however and we will continue to target those responsible for any and all crimes in our communities."
