Aberdeen's new bridge opens today.

Local primary school kids have chosen the official name of the ÂŁ22.3 million Third Don Crossing - the Diamond Bridge.

And they've been getting special lessons on road safety because of the increased traffic in the area.

It's cost an estimated ÂŁ3 million more than the original budget, and it was scheduled to open months ago.

Council bosses hope the crossing - which links Bridge of Don and Tillydrone - will ease traffic around Aberdeen.

The Diamond Bridge officially opens to cars later this afternoon - so if you were planning on going that way to get to work this morning you'll need to use your usual route.
