Crew criticised in helicopter crash report
The final report into a fatal chopper crash of Shetland says the crew weren't paying enough attention to flight instruments
The final report into the fatal helicopter crash off the coast of Shetland has been published.
Four people were killed in August 2013 when a Superpuma ditched in the sea as it came in to land at Sumburgh.
This afternoon the AAIB has released its final report.
It concludes that in the 30 or 40 seconds before the crash, the crew weren't paying enough attention to the flight instruments, and the aircraft was coming in too sharp for the weather conditions, which were worse than expected.
The crash has already led to significant changes to offshore safety, with new equipment for all passengers flying to the rigs.
