A climber that died after falling from a ridge leading to Ben Nevis last Friday has been named as 56-year-old Steven Fogg from Aboyne in Aberdeenshire.

Mr Fogg and two other walkers were climbing the Carn Mor Dearg Arete on Friday August 7, when Mr Fogg slipped and fell 400ft to 600ft off the ledge at around 10am.

The other two walkers raised the alarm to the Lochaber Mountain Rescue and the Coastguard Helicopter. They found Mr Fogg and airlifted him to hospital in Fort William, but he was sadly pronounced dead on arrival. A report regarding the death will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
