SSE say 2,000 homes in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are without power due to Storm Gertrude.

Peterculter, Maryculter, Aboyne, Ellon, Dunecht and Abyone are among the worst hit areas.

SSE say they have no estimate as to when power will be restored, as their engineers are struggling to work through the continuing strong winds.

A number of schools are also closed because of power cuts.

The A96 is still closed south of Huntly because of an overturned lorry - a car also crashed into the vehicle, but nobody was seriously hurt.

And a number of other roads have been blocked by fallen trees.
