As we prepare for more big things from the genre-blending, Mercury prize nominated group, we've put together a handy guide on everything you need to know about the band, who have just added another BRIT Award win to their collection. Made up of Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies and Aurora Nishevci, take a look at their rise to fame, biggest tracks, UK tour and their newly-released second album, 'From The Pyre'...
Who are The Last Dinner Party?
The Last Dinner Party is an indie rock band from London, who formed back in 2021. Originally meeting in 2020, the band struggled to meet and rehearse due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with November 2021 finally allowing them to perform their first live gig.
The band have been making waves since the release of their debut single 'Nothing Matters' on 19th April 2023. Releasing three more singles in 2023 - 'Sinner', 'My Lady of Mercy' and 'On Your Side' - they later released their single 'Caesar on a TV Screen' on 4th January 2024.
It was then on 2nd February 2024 that they released their debut album 'Prelude to Ecstasy', which quickly hit the Number 1 spot in the UK Chart. In early 2025, the album then bagged a nomination for Mastercard Album of The Year at The BRIT Awards 2025. Despite losing out to Charli xcx's 'brat', The Last Dinner Party did take home the 2025 BRIT Award win for Best New Artist. The band were also named as the recipients of the Best New Music Award at the 2025 O2 Silver Clef Awards.
Then in October 2025, the band released their second album 'From The Pyre', which went to Number 2 in the UK chart.

Who are the band members?
The band currently consists of five permanent members: Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass) and Aurora Nishevci (keys, vocals).
At the moment, the band do not have a permanent drummer, so are joined during live performances by guest drummer Rebekah Rayner.
What is The Last Dinner Party's sound?
The band's sound is a blend of indie rock, art rock, baroque pop, with a healthy dash of elements of folk music. Their combination of unique vocals, intricate guitar work and keyboard sounds have gained them a distinctive atmosphere in their songs, with many comparing them to the likes of Kate Bush, Sparks and Warpaint.
How did the band form?
Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland and Georgia Davies met in London back in 2020, while at college completing their A-levels. After going to various gigs together in South London, the trio decided to form a band, with a mutual friend recommending Emily Roberts on guitar, and them also soon recruiting Aurora Nishevci.
Bassist Georgia told Under The Radar: "We really began bonding after going to gigs in South London and seeing bands at the likes of the Brixton Windmill. It’s such a vibrant scene, and we felt totally inspired by the music that was being made. We definitely wanted to be part of that in some way."
Despite completing their line-up, due to the restrictions put in place from the Covid-19 pandemic, the band struggled to meet, rehearse and perform. In November 2021, The Last Dinner Party managed to perform their first live gig, which took place at The George in London.
Where did their band name come from?
Surprisingly, The Last Dinner Party was not actually the original band name. At first, the group went by the name The Dinner Party. The name is said to be 'inspired by the idea of a huge debauched dinner party where people came together to celebrate with a hedonistic banquet'.
The band, however, became aware of an art installation named The Dinner Party, by an American feminist artist named Judy Chicago. Speaking to Under The Radar, Georgia said: "I could say we’re really clever and we named ourselves after it, but we only found out about it later", adding: "We are glad to have found it as it’s an incredible piece of work, and certainly fits in with our ethos."
The band then added 'The Last' to the start of their name to avoid confusion with the art piece, and U.S. musician Kamasi Washington’s Dinner Party project.
Their rise to fame
After meeting in 2020, The Last Dinner Party performed their first live gig in November 2021, continuing to write music together and work on their unique sound.
In April 2022, The Last Dinner Party performed their third ever live gig, which caught the attention of South London videographer Lou Smith, who filmed the performance and shared to his YouTube channel. Proving a pivotal moment in the band's career, it marked a turning point for The Last Dinner Party and skyrocketed the band's popularity and presence in the music industry.
In an interview with Under The Radar, vocalist Abigail gushed of Lou: "He’s our hero! He’s the reason we’re here!" Bassist Georgia added: "We were a new band without any representation. After that video went online, our email inbox started blowing up! We were getting correspondence from labels, managers, PRs — all of them referencing this one video they’d seen on YouTube."
Abigail referred to the experience as "mad", adding: "The emails all read ‘RE: Lou Smith video.’ We have so much to thank him for." With Lou's YouTube channel focusing on the South London music scene's plethora of emerging bands from the area, she added: "And he does it because he loves it; he’s providing such a great service to the scene. He’s always filming artists, and every time he uploads a video, I find a great new band."
Since their huge debut single, which featured on the soundtrack for EA Sports FC 24, the band have gone on to support Florence and the Machine, played major festivals like Glastonbury and Latitude, and delivered powerful live sessions for radio.
