Unless you've been living under a rock, you're bound to be familiar with 2024 hit 'A Bar Song' and the man behind it, Shaboozey. The country/hip hop singer, who also made a guest appearance on Beyonce's 'Cowboy Carter' album the same year, has cemented himself as one of country music's hot new players.

2025 looks set to get even bigger for the rising star, with the singer having already performed at C2C Country to Country, the ACM Awards AND Glastonbury! He's also been dropping lots of new tracks and featuring on singles like 2025's "song of the summer" 'Change Your Mind' with Burna Boy. Who is Shaboozey?

Born Collins Obinna Chibueze to Nigerian parents, Shaboozey's an American singer and songwriter, with a unique style which mixes both country and hip hop. Describing his early influences as a combination of Kenny Rogers, Ja Rule, Kanye West's 'The College Dropout' and Brandy, Shaboozey says he pulls inspiration from everything he witnesses — making for some pretty interesting song lyrics!

Where did Shaboozey get his name?

The country singer's professional name first came about in his high school days, after teachers and peers mispronounced his surname; Chibueze. He decided he liked it enough to keep it!

How old is he?

He was born on 9th May 1995, making him 30-years-old.

Where is he from?

He's from a small town called Woodbridge in Northern Virginia, USA. He moved to Los Angeles in 2016, when he was 21-years-old.

Is Shaboozey going on tour?

Shaboozey's recently been on his 'Fall Tour '24' across America and is fresh off a visit to the UK. He performed at C2C Country to Country in London, Glasgow and Belfast in March 2025 and at Glastonbury in June!

He also performed on Wednesday 19th March at KOKO London - and has various upcoming dates across Europe.

Shaboozey's performance at the ACM Awards with Jelly Roll

The 60th Academy of Country Music Awards took place on 8th May 2025 - and it was certainly a show to remember, with country icons taking to the stage to perform throughout the world-renowned award show.

Joining the list was none other than Shaboozey and country superstar Jelly Roll, singing their track 'Amen', following Jelly Roll performing his track 'Dream While I'm Awake'.

CMA Awards 2025

Shaboozey also took to the stage at the CMA Awards in 2025, performing 'Took A Walk' with Stephen Wilson Jr. - as well as being nominated for New Artist of the Year at the ceremony, although he lost out to Zach Top.

Has he performed at Glastonbury?

Yes! Shaboozey performed at Glastonbury Festival 2025 on Sunday 29th June, on the same day as Noah Kahan, Rod Stewart and Olivia Rodrigo. Fans took to social media afterwards to call his set 'sensational', with many commenting on his 'immaculate style' too.

Shaboozey and Ed Sheeran

The pair performed in Ed Sheeran's Old Phone pub, which was an intimate pub setting at Coachella. They performed 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)', in front of a small group of fans.

How many albums has Shaboozey released?

Three so far. His debut album 'Lady Wrangler' was released in 2018, followed by 'Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die' in 2022. But it wasn't until his third album released in May 2024 that Shaboozey's career really started to take off. 'Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going' went to Number 5 in the US album chart, hitting Number 2 in the US country chart.

On 25th April 2025, Shaboozey released a deluxe version of his album called 'Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going: The Complete Edition', featuring extra songs such as 'Blink Twice' with Myles Smith and 'Amen' with Jelly Roll.

Shaboozey collaborates with Beyonce on 'Cowboy Carter' album

A huge turning point in Shaboozey's career was his collaboration with country Queen, Beyonce, on her 'Cowboy Carter' album. He featured on tracks 'SPAGHETTII' and 'Sweet ⭐️Honey⭐️ Buckiin' — a move which helped the singer break into the mainstream.

In 'Sweet ⭐️Honey⭐️ Buckiin', he sings: 'Lucchese the boots, check / You can hear when I step / Bought a Chevy and painted it red / Money long, it can't fit in the bed / It don't matter what nobody says / Country boy 'til the day that I'm dead'.

Performing with Beyoncé at the NFL Christmas Day halftime show

After collaborating with Bey on 'Cowboy Carter' Shaboozey surprised crowds during the NFL Christmas Day halftime show by coming out and singing 'Sweet Honey Buckiin’'. It was the first time Beyoncé has performed live in four years — and also joining them, was Post Malone.

Performing at the 2025 Grammy Awards

In February 2025 Shaboozey took to the stage of the 67th Grammy Awards, performing his 2024 song 'Good News' as well as hit track 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)'. It follows five nominations at the event; including Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Best Country Song.

What are Shaboozey's most successful songs?

'A Bar Song'

By far his most successful track, 'A Bar Song' went to Number 1 in countries around the world including the US, knocking Beyonce's 'Texas Hold 'Em' off the top of the Hot Country Songs chart and staying there for 30 weeks (and counting). It also lasted 13 weeks at the top of the US chart and peaked at Number 3 in the UK. Released in April 2024, the song won a People's Choice Country Award for New Artist Song of 2024 and was nominated for an MTV VMA.

The catchy lyrics include: 'My baby want a Birkin, she's been tellin' me all night long / Gasoline and groceries, the list goes on and on / This 9 to 5 ain't workin', why the hell do I work so hard? / I can't worry 'bout my problems, I can't take 'em when I'm gone.'

The track has been certified 3x Platinum in the UK, having sold more than 1.8 million copies.

'Good News'

Not long after the release of 'A Bar Song', Shaboozey dropped 'Good News' which made it to Number 14 in the US country chart. It was certified Silver in the UK in November 2025.

The ironically upbeat song includes the lyrics: 'Man, what a hell of a year it's been / Keep on bluffin', but I just can't win / Drowned my sorrows, but they learned to swim / Man, what a hell of a year it's been / Head in the bottle, but my heart in the cage / Yeah, it's gettin' harder to act my age / Play a sad song on a tiny violin / For the man at the bar confessin' his sins / I need some good news / Sittin' here, sippin' on cold truth / Nobody knows what I'm goin' through / Bet the devil wouldn't walk in my shoes.'

'Winning Streak'

Shaboozey has previously revealed the first video of his which 'popped off' was 2018's 'Winning Streak', which noughties fans may notice was shot in the same place as Nelly's 'Ride Wit Me':

Shaboozey's Grand Ole Opry debut

The singer is set to make his debut at the Grand Ole Opry House in 2025. Management of the legendary Nashville show, which is marking its 100th anniversary this year, select only the finest country musicians to become a member — so it's considered a huge honour to be invited.

Shaboozey was set to make his debut on 18th January, but it was sadly postponed due to the devastating LA wildfires.

Does Shaboozey write his own songs?

He does! Shaboozey writes songs about everything and anything, pulling inspiration from all around him. Unique lyrics such as: 'Used to sleep on the futon / Rings, got a few on / Got gold like a leprechaun / My girl got a leopard on' ('Winning streak') and: 'We would run out of gas, got out the car and we pushed it / Used to fall on the streets, we ain't land on no cushions / Knew I'd end up on top, even when some said I couldn't / Came from humble beginnings, know I flex when I shouldn't' ('Dream') just make us love him even more!
